The Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 seasons with the organization, casting the NFL world into a frenzy and sparking rumors about a potential new job on South Beach. Baltimore finished the 2025 season 8-9 after starting the season 1-5. Harbaugh (18th season) was the NFL's second-longest-tenured head coach (Mike Tomlin, 19), with his 193 total wins tying Chuck Knox for 12th-most by an HC in NFL history.

The 64-year-old Harbaugh ranks 12th among all-time NFL head coaches with 193 wins, and he guided the Ravens to a Super Bowl title in 2012. Teams are already lining up for his services. In a Tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Harbaugh's agent confirmed that seven teams have reached out about securing an interview with the former Ravens head coach.

At the time, Baltimore was the seventh vacancy to open, meaning a team with a current head coach called the agent to inquire about Harbaugh. It could have been Miami or Tampa, but both organizations initially denied calling to inquire about Harbaugh.

On Thursday morning, after taking part in the GM search, Dolphinshead coach Mike McDaniel was fired.

It's worth mentioning that the Dolphins put in five GM requests on Monday. The one on Chargers assistant GM Chad Alexander didn't go in until Tuesday—the day John Harbaugh was let go in Baltimore. Miami owner Stephen Ross has a lot of history with the Harbaugh family. ...

After narrowing down the field of candidates, Miami has decided on Packers VP of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their general manager. Jon-Eric Sullivan is the son of Jerry Sullivan, the longtime NFL and college coach who retired in 2021 after more than 40 years in coaching. The elder Sullivan was the Dolphins' wide receivers coach in 2004.

Sullivan has been in Green Bay since 2003, starting as a scouting intern. He has served as the Packers' vice president of player personnel since 2022, working closely with GM Brian Gutekunst. With that news, it sounds more like a candidate with ties to Green Bay could get the job. Among the potential Dolphins coaching candidates with ties to Jon-Eric Sullivan in Green Bay are Mike McCarthy, Jeff Hafley, and Adam Stenavich

There have been discussions of Lamar Jackson or the Ravens potentially wanting to part ways, and if the Miami Dolphins were one of the teams that inquired about the head coach, things could get interesting.

The Dolphins will certainly explore the option of parting with Tua Tagovailoa. If the Dolphins cut Tua and absorb the dead cap hit, Jackson could be the darling of their eyes.

Everything begins with Tua's contract, which includes $54 million in guaranteed money in 2026. He gets an additional $3 million in 2027 guarantees if he's on the roster on the third day of the new league year. Either way, Miami will have to figure out that $54 million before it can even consider bringing Jackson back to Florida.

For now, John Harbaugh could pivot towards an opportunity in New York with the Giants, who reportedly covet the former Ravens' head coach.
