The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up to face the San Diego Padres after a dramatic comeback on Friday.

Shohei Ohtani, who was on the mound yesterday, left his start early due to a bicep injury, which has cropped up a few times.

Naturally, rather than push Ohtani during the regular season, manager Dave Roberts made it clear the team would rest the Japanese star on Saturday, giving him a day to catch his breath.

Ohtani has been doing his full two-way shift all season, with regular starts as a pitcher and every day at DH. Naturally, there is some wear that comes with playing so often, and the Dodgers are mindful of the challenges ahead for Ohtani.

Dodgers Lineup vs. Padres

1. Tommy Edman, CF
2. Andy Pages, DH
3. Freddie Freeman, 1B
4. Mookie Betts, SS
5. Kyle Tucker, RF
6. Teoscar Hernandez, LF
7. Max Muncy, 3B
8. Dalton Rushing, C
9. Alex Freeland, 2B

With Ohtani out of the order, the Dodgers are having Tommy Edman lead off, who brings good speed and a steady bat. Additionally, the DH will go to Andy Pages, who gets a well-deserved day off from being in center field.

A lefty on the mound for San Diego means the Dodgers are going to deploy Max Muncy and Dalton Rushing a bit lower in the order. Interestingly, Freeland gets the start at second rather than the righty Miguel Rojas.

Who is pitching for the Dodgers?

For the Los Angeles Dodgers, the starter will be Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He is their best pitcher at the moment and remains a total workhorse.

At this point, six innings are the minimum for Yamamoto, and he seemingly only gives a handful of runs, if that, now that his command has been tuned up.

Against an offense like the Padres, who, while starting to produce better, are overall a poor collective, Yamamoto could have another gem in the works.
