The Los Angeles Dodgers have a problem that most other teams don't.

They have too many good players.

Dalton Rushing is one of those, and he's proven when he plays this year that he's a special young hitter.

The problem is that he's a catcher, and that's where Will Smith plays.

And DH isn't exactly open in Los Angeles. Shohei Ohtani holds down that spot.

Rushing is athletic enough to be tried in other spots, but the Dodgers are loaded pretty much everywhere.

That has ESPN's Jeff Passan raise the idea of a Rushing trade in a new article on Thursday. Passan does it in the context of a player the Texas Rangers could target to fix their catching woes, but really, Rushing could work in a lot of different landing spots.

"And while by no means are the Dodgers shopping Rushing, they've got Will Smith at catcher and some guy at DH, and opportunities will be limited for the foreseeable future," Passan writes. "Were Rushing to move, the Rangers wouldn't be the only ones interested. (Imagine that left-handed swing at Yankee Stadium.) But president of baseball operations Chris Young loves fiery players, and the fit goes well beyond need."

Of course, this is all about the Dodgers' plans.

If they want to trade Rushing, they will, and they'd likely get a big prospect haul back for him.

But because the Dodgers are so loaded, they can also stand firm. They don't need to trade Rushing. What need would they be addressing by moving him?

Instead, they could just stand still and have the best depth in baseball. That's not a bad option, either.
