Three-time World Series champion catcher Will Smith and his wife, Cara Smith, hosted their annual Dodgers Comedy Night as part of the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival to raise money for their Catching Hope Foundation.
This is the third Dodgers Comedy Night that Smith and his wife have hosted. Multiple of Smith’s Los Angeles Dodgers teammates, like Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages showed their support for the cause on Thursday at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.

“It’s a fun night,” Smith said, per MLB. “Netflix is such a great partner; they provide such great comedians. We’re able to raise a bunch of money for our foundation through auctions and ticket sales.”
Smith and his wife founded Catching Hope in 2021 to help support underserved, low-income children around the Los Angeles community. Smith said the foundation was recently able to provide funding for mental health resources for students impacted by the Pacific Palisades fires that happened in January 2025.
“Catching Hope has been around for a few years now,” Smith said, per MLB. “Our goal is to raise funding for kids through education and their schools. We created some reading nooks at a couple of elementary schools here. We provide Amazon wish lists for teachers.”
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was happy to see Smith’s teammates attend the event. Roberts explained how their support for Smith on an off-day shows the close bond and culture of the Dodgers.
“We’re together for essentially eight-and-a-half months of the year,” Roberts said, per MLB. “We’re together every day playing, so for guys to take an offday to support their teammate is fantastic. Will and Cara do a great job with their charity, and it’s part of what makes the Dodgers special.”
