The Los Angeles Dodgers have been battling numerous injuries to pitchers this season, but on Monday, an injured hurler took a step forward.

“In good pitching news for the Dodgers: Tyler Glasnow is currently playing catch after back issues caused him to pause his throwing progression,” Ardaya wrote.
How did Tyler Glasnow get hurt?
Glasnow left the May 6 game against the Houston Astros as he was warming up for the second inning.
Despite having just eclipsed 1,000 career strikeouts, he felt lower back pain, an issue that’s plagued him during his career.

He was initially expected to avoid the injured list, though the Dodgers soon changed that decision.
A week ago, he apparently reaggravated his back injury, forcing him to be shut down again.
At the time, general manager Brandon Gomes said they planned to let Glasnow “reset.”

“He’s gonna take a few days off from throwing, completely kind of reset and re-evaluate,” Gomes said. “Still don’t think anything. No concern long-term. But a little slower on the front end than we expected.”
Now, it appears enough progress has been made that Glasnow can again throw, though he’s not yet back to pitching.
How is Tyler Glasnow playing this season?
Ahead of the injury, Glasnow had been pitching at a high level.
He has a 3-0 record and 2.72 ERA in seven games, earning some Cy Young buzz for the 6-foot-8 hurler.

He particularly excelled in metrics like strikeout rate — he’s punching out about a third of the batters he faces, good enough for the top 4% of MLB pitchers — and expected ERA and expected batting average.
Those figures, 2.48 and .180, respectively, are both in the top 10% of pitchers.
Are you excited to see Tyler Glasnow back from injury?
