The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the final game of their series to the Texas Rangers, though managed to win the set to start their homestand.
The Dodgers took hard-fought wins in the first two games of the series, winning the first game with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth and the second game in a closely contested 6-3 match.
Roki Sasaki made his third start of the season for the Dodgers on Sunday, pitching four innings and allowing two runs on five hits and five walks. He recorded a new career-high in strikeouts in the game, recording six.
Shohei Ohtani got the game started for the Dodgers, as he hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first for the second game in a row. Afterwards, though, the Dodgers struggled to generate offense. Rangers starter Jacob DeGrom threw six innings of one-run ball, recording nine strikeouts and four hits during his outing.
Texas consistently filled the basepaths in the early going, and their resilience paid off in the top of the third. Evan Carter hit a solo homer to kick off the inning, and a Josh Smith single scored their second run of the game after a single and a walk.
The Rangers extended their lead in the sixth inning, when a groundout scored Josh Jung, who advanced to third after an errant throw from Dodgers reliever Edgardo Henriquez.

LA cut the lead to one in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Kyle Tucker singled in Dalton Rushing, who continued his solid start to the season at the dish. Rushing has a 2.032 OPS through four games played, and has seven hits in 12 at-bats.
The Rangers didn’t let up afterwards, though, as Brandon Nimmo kept his solid series against the Dodgers going with an RBI single in the eighth. They didn’t stop there, either, as a wild pitch from Will Klein scored Ezequiel Duran.
After scoring their run in the seventh inning, the Dodgers didn’t make much noise and quietly lost the ballgame, 5-2.
The Dodgers’ next series comes against the New York Mets, and begins Monday at 7:10 p.m. PT. Justin Wrobleski will start the first game of the series, followed by Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani in the following two games.
