Off the cusp of sending Kiké Hernández back to the Injured List with a strained left oblique, the Los Angeles Dodgers may have to work out yet another injury-related move.
At the bottom of the second inning in Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, Teoscar Hernández was seen grabbing his left hamstring trying to leg out a groundball out.
The Dodgers officially announced that Hernández suffered a left hamstring strain following his removal.
It was an immediate cause of concern with trainers awaiting his arrival at the steps of the dugout.
Hernández was visibly upset once he entered the dugout, almost slamming his batting helmet on the helmet rack, before grabbing his hamstring once more.
He then went deep into the bowels of the clubhouse with head trainer Thomas Albert.
Hyeseong Kim replaced Hernández in left field.
Hernández was on the precipice of breaking away from his early-season slump before his hamstring strain.
In his last seven games, Hernández slashed .381/.440/.667 with two home runs and eight RBIs. It was an upward trend for the 33-year-old, but there is no immediate news of an IL stint.
In the case of another IL stint that the Dodgers have to scramble with, there are plenty of options down in the minor leagues Los Angeles could turn to.
If the Dodgers want someone with major league experience, then they could turn to Ryan Ward.
Ward notched Pacific Coast League MVP honors in 2025 after recording a historic season for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets. He made his debut on April 19 while Freddie Freeman was placed on the paternity list.
Since then, Ward has not lived up to his MVP campaign, hitting .254 and six home runs. He's picked up 31 RBIs to his credit and an OPS of .797.
Alex Call, who got the start in right field in place of Kyle Tucker for Wednesday's game, could see viable playing time if Hernández lands on the IL.
Call has made the most of his limited opportunities, producing 15 hits across 50 at-bats.
He's also started every position in the outfield at least once, which gives the Dodgers more length concerning options.
Alek Thomas, who was a surprise pick-up for Los Angeles following his designation from the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 8, could be an option.
Since his signing with his new club, Thomas has been down in Arizona working alongside the Dodgers' player development department at Camelback Ranch.
The most eye-catching option is 23-year-old outfielder James Tibbs III.
Tibbs III has produced scorching numbers in 50 games with OKC, slashing .308/.413/.591.
He has crushed 12 home runs with 38 RBIs and an OPS of 1.004.
