Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani fools Jose Altuve into embarassing swing originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

It was a pitching duel Tuesday night between Los Angeles Dodgers ace Shohei Ohtani and Houston Astros pitcher Peter Lambert. Lambert had a scoreless night in seven frames, while in as many innings, Ohtani gave up two earned runs. But the Dodgers star also struck out eight hitters. Among those strikeouts was a nasty one, where Jose Altuve was completely fooled.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Astros slugger came out to bat for the third time against Ohtani. The first occasion was a strikeout and in the second plate appearance, he was flied out. The third one was probably the nastiest and most embarrassing one.

Ohtani started with an away pitch. The next two pitches were strikes. Altuve saved himself from a strikeout by hitting two straight foul balls. In an attempt to get a contact, Altuve chased a wild sweeper of Ohtani that was nowhere near the frame. It was probably one and a half feet away on the left side of the plate.

Altuve has struck out only 30 times this season in 133 at-bats. This would probably go down as one of the most embarrassing strikeouts of this season.

Despite Shohei Ohtani's brilliance, Dodgers bats remain cold

Shohei Ohtani was once again brilliant on the mound. However, his absence in the hitting lineup was felt. In his absence, designated hitter Dalton Rushing took the lead-off spot.

Ohtani allowed two solo home runs to Christian Walker and Braden Shewmake in the second and third innings, respectively. Meanwhile, the Dodgers could produce six hits in total against Peter Lambert & Co. The only run was scored on Kyle Tucker's RBI single in the eighth inning.

The 2-1 win leveled the series at Daikin Park. The Dodgers are struggling by their standards as they are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
