The Los Angeles Dodgers moved left-handed reliever Jack Dreyer to the injured list with left-shoulder discomfort ahead of their series finale against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

Dreyer’s move to the injured list was part of a larger roster move, which saw right-handers Paul Gervase and Chayce McDermott promoted to the big leagues and left-hander Charlie Barnes optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers recalled RHPs Paul Gervase and Chayce McDermott, optioned LHP Charlie Barnes and placed LHP Jack Dreyer on the injured list with left shoulder discomfort.

Dreyer last pitched Friday, when he threw a 22-pitch scoreless inning in the Dodgers’ shutout win against the Angels. Prior to Sunday’s game, manager Dave Roberts revealed Dreyer felt something while warming up and got a scan, which revealed the inflammation.

The left-hander’s move to the injured list is a big hit for the Dodgers, who have relied on the southpaw for high-leverage situations.

He has a 2.08 ERA through 21.2 innings pitched this season, logging 24 strikeouts in that time.

The Dodgers claimed Barnes off waivers from the Chicago Cubs earlier in May, and he has made two appearances for the team, posting two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. He pitched in both of the Dodgers’ games against the Angels this weekend, so the move is likely to keep them bullpen fresh.

What will Chayce McDermott and Paul Gervase bring to the Dodgers?

McDermott, a fourth-round pick, had a 6.18 ERA in the minor leagues during the 2025 season, and he posted an awful 15.58 ERA in four major league games.

Since then, the former Baltimore Oriole has lost a good deal of confidence, but with Triple-A OKC, he has looked much better.

He has a 4.32 ERA in eight games with 16 strikeouts and eight walks. He has only allowed five hits, but the command has always been his weakness, and those issues seemingly remain.

As for Gervase, the right-hander has already gotten a taste of MLB this season. He made one appearance earlier in the season, a three-inning relief performance where he allowed just one run and struck out five.

He hasn’t been very successful in the minors, posting a 5.14 ERA through 10 appearances, but has maintained a solid strikeout with 19 in 14 innings pitched. Similarly to McDermott, Gervase has struggled with control this season, allowing 10 walks during his minor league outings.

The Dodgers will likely look to use both pitchers in their game Sunday, though, as their bullpen could use a little bit of rest amid their stretch of 13 consecutive games without a day off.
