Both Rodgers and Metcalf are ready to run it back with the Steelers in the AFC North after a strong first season together.

While there were flashes of brilliance from both stars, their chemistry still needed some work. But it appears both stars have forged a greater connection over the last few months during a private training camp in Idaho.

Aaron Rodgers explains newfound ‘bond’ with DK Metcalf

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers addressed his relationship with DK Metcalf and how their bond has improved over the last year.

He noted that he has been able to connect further with Metcalf and called him the perfect role model for aspiring NFL players.

“He’s a specimen… From a body-type (standpoint), he’s like nobody I’ve ever played with. He weighs 230ish… He’s an absolute animal. The thing that you realize is, especially after going to Idaho, you have a lot of closeness with guys on the team.

“But last year, compared to this year, felt like we were teammates, and this year we’re actually really close friends. That’s been really cool.

“Not that I didn’t love them last year, but we’ve been able to bond and connect in a different way. It makes a difference. He’s my roommate over here at the dorms.

“DK has a big heart, and he really cares about doing things the right way. If you’re a young player and you want to know what it looks like to be an NFL player and practice the right way, you should watch DK…”

DK Metcalf says Idaho training camp with Aaron Rodgers happened at the ‘perfect time’

DK Metcalf followed Rodgers’ appearance on the show and explained his perspective on the relationship he shares with the former MVP.

“We definitely got the chance to get to know each other on a more intimate level this offseason. Last year, we were still teammates. I ain’t wanna mess up. He ain’t wanna mess up. We were just not on the same page. It’s going to be special this year…

“I think it happened at the perfect time, so we can all go in on the same accord. What we came to do, we spoke on goals, spoke on family, what we gotta get better at, spoke on life. S—, that’s all I need to hear from somebody.”

It appears the former All-Pro wide receiver is ready to take on the new season with Rodgers as his quarterback, and wants to make the most of playing with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
