It’s Pittsburgh’s own version of The Odd Couple. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver D.K. Metcalf are sharing a suite at training camp for the second year in a row, and it’s led to establishing ground rules for living together during the Summer.

Rodgers, prescribing to the “if it’s yellow, let it mellow” axiom, has dictated that if either of the athletes need to pee at night, they will not flush the toilet until the morning. This was a significant sticking point for Metcalf in 2025, who held strong beliefs in the “flush when you go” way of thinking.

When Aaron Rodgers realized toilet in his & DK Metcalf's suite flushed loudly, QB told WR: "At night, if we got to piss, just don't flush the toilet."

9:30 Wednesday night, DK texted: "You asleep yet?" Aaron wasn't.

"Bet. I'm about to flush the toilet."https://t.co/9IC9Uz9BJw

A huge part of the development of an offense involves getting a quarterback and receiver on the same page, and this season they arrived at camp already knowing the rules. Metcalf told reporters that he rocked up to camp already understanding the rules of the suite, and knowing he shouldn’t flush the toilet at night.

I’m really in two minds about this whole thing. On the one hand, I totally get the mechanics behind not flushing the toilet and waking someone else; however, that’s a long time for two athletes’ pee to linger in a toilet. Especially when we consider that both are hydrating like hell to compete on the field during training camp. Ultimately, I think there should be a rule adjustment depending on how often the toilet is being used at night. If it’s just once per person, then yeah, let it mellow — but if we’re talking numerous pees per person, per night then at some point you have to just flush that all down and start fresh.

I don’t make the rules though, that’s for Rodgers and Metcalf.
