He has to be willing to SIGN the franchise tender, and then negotiate a long-term contract with the new team, for that to work. I've read a handful of articles about there being zero chance of this happening.

Yep, the same crazy talk that's left us with exactly ZERO QBs on the roster, without any young QBs to develop. By all means, let's CONTINUE to criminally neglect the most important position on the team by ignoring it in the draft lol

But yes, to your other point, we can draft linemen in the draft. Keim hasn't been particularly good at it, and the college game hasn't been helping develop good linemen for a while, but there should be enough of a talent pool there to exploit.

Yeah they can. Haven't been great at it but Keim has to hit gold eventually. But as been pointed out ad nausium, it's ALSO time for this franchise to make a legitimate attempt at developing a QB.

You get one at 15, trade up, or trade back into the 1st. But you get one!

Obviously if you sign Cousins, that precludes them from addressing the interior line the way they need to. That aint gonna get us to the show with him. There are cheaper options with an established line that can make this team just as good as Cousins will ~ yeah nuts

He also doesn't have to accept or negotiate a new deal. That is the point. If he is going to get tagged this year, his third year being tagged, he'll rake in $34 mil. He could just sit on his hind parts and severely handicap the Redskins while making a ton of money.

My scenario is assuming he doesnt absolutely hate the skins and is willing to help them get something in return... then they could let him go negotiate his deal with a team knowing a 2nd is attached to him. if his point is just to toss a huge eff you to the skins then they would be screwed and have to drop their deal for smith.

Why would Cousin help them after they first didn't want to sign him long term than franchised him twice and the first offers for long term were afaik lower than the money Glennon got. That was just pure bad behaivor by Washington, like the name thing, should have changed it a long time ago to Washington Cheaper or Washington Loosers or ******* or yellowers are all more fitting, browns is already taken and that one is fitting ...

Cousins hates the franchise now, and he played good nonethless so, we will see were he signs. If he wants to win, he will choose between Vikings, Broncos, Jacksonville, Cards or the Lions(depending if the rumors are true), if he wants the money he will go elsewhere.

From DJ/PP standpoint, they want to win, Cousins gives the best chance at it at the moment. That can change in 6-10 months..
