All year I was excited to see two RB backfields and we have never done it. Put DJ and AE in there and do some misdirection and etc plays. Also in passing game they could both wheel out. seems there would be tons of options in that package.

I agree completely. I was expecting with 2 weeks to prepare, that there would be some added wrinkles in the offense. I was expecting a larger role for Ellington.

I get the concern for Juke because I'm also concerned but DJ didn't have a very good game either.

It's unfortunate that is the best excuse that I can come up with for Juke.

He was given three carries and a pass target on those seven snaps — it's not like he was brought in to block. He managed 5 yards on those three carries and completely failed to stay engaged on his target — he didn't even turn his head around.

The other problem is how long can you put Ellington on the field before you worry that he's going to get injured. He's constantly injured even though he's never used.

Too much trouble. Larry Fitzgerald was one of the best players in football for an extended period before we thought we were seeing a drop-off. Ellington was pretty good for a handful of games. Today he's had far more injured/bad games than good ones.

I never thought there was a drop-off in Fitz's game. He was being underutilized at first by BA. It was almost like they were trying to phase him out of the offense until they realized he still had a lot of game left in him.
I kind of feel the same about Ellington. Yes, he is often injured. But when healthy, he is a weapon. They seem to always try and use Ellington as a between the tackles type of runner. He seems better suited for sweeps, wheel routes, in the slot as a receiver, etc...

Ellington will be replaced in the draft...... he is not durable and has now lost his effectiveness due to a lack of "want to"...... he will be playing elsewhere next season if things do not change quickly for him.
I was concerned that he lined up in the backfield instead of the slot....he may have been more effective in the slot.

these defenses that remain cannot be stretched...too fast....AE need not line up in the backfield again in the playoffs

Tell me you don't think he coached a good defensive game, after actually watching the game. Please. He showed zero ability to make adjustments, and the Pack had several huge drives that completely ate up the clock because of it. I mean, if we're just going to pass out gold stars for bend-but-don't-break defensive series', sure, he'd get one. As far as Bettcher's in-game adjustments? Um, WHAT adjustments?

But none of the short carries could be considered his fault. The line just let GB past them (he actually had one decent run).

The pass looked like Palmer rushed the pass out as he was being pressured.

The fact that DJ had a really bad night tells me that this was more a blocking issue than a running one.

Maybe we'll see it this week. Carolina has 2 pretty good ILB that can blitz. Use them the way you're asking to help neutralize some of that maybe?

Yeah, I was going nuts...they didn't call it once, while Golden and Freeney were getting tackled at least 5+ plays. They just were not going to call it, and the Packers knew it.

I know we had AE and DJ in together at least once early in the year but I think we got a penalty on the play and it didn't count.

Mainly AE was hurt half the year. We even did DJ and Taylor in together and threw to Taylor once so it won't surprise me at all to do AE and DJ together.

I still say we need to use the TE more, GB was giving us the TE all game to take away DJ in the pass game. One of the big plays ofthe game was the pass to Fells where they got the roughing penalty tacked on, but Fells was open all game.

Seattle picked on their 1 CB and one Safety the whole 2nd half, I'm sure we'll do that too. Cris Carter seemed to think we'll play lots of 4WR packages and force them to have their nickel defense in saying they can't cover all 4 guys with the secondary issues they have, and the Cards can run out of the 4WR set because Fitz and Floyd are such good blockers.

Will be interesting, CC thinks teams need to spread Carolina out, they want you to play 2 TE's.

They were replaying the hail marys today on Mike and Mike and even Golic said as a defensive player what does Campbell have to do to get a call. He got a hand to the face on the first one and held and grabbed around the helmet on the second one.

That was his reasoning for why sending extra guys might not be a bad thing, the refs are NOT going to help you out by calling something so bring extra guys and pressure the guy.

I have no idea what has happened to Ellington. I expected regression, but nothing this bad.

Seems to me that he is only used now in a limited number of certain packages/plays which the other team surely knows. The plays I remember him getting the ball were stuffed before they got started. What do you think?

Campbell was straight up tackled on the last Hail Mary. That bothered me more than the fact the GB kid outplayed Peterson for the ball.

Mike Golic even complained about it and he's one of those let the players decide the game guys. he said what does Campbell have to do to get a call facemask on the first hail mary clearly held on the 2nd.
