I seriously don’t get how that hit to Evans head with momentum during the play isn’t a first down… weird….

While the ball did hit the ground before Evan's got hit, Weddle was winding up and launching before that. It can be argued that was during the play IMO.

Play was over
it doesn’t matter it shouldn’t be called that way. Because what that does is give a defender a free shot to kill a WR with no real negative. Especially on 4th. You might as well try to kill a wr. The play should be continued all the way. Like no personal fouls during the 2 sides on the field.

Defense wins championships. The Rams and Niners have a much better defense than ours. Our defense is kinda soft, depending on turnovers. Definitely missing a stud DT and corners.
We need a pass-rush. Hell, look at the Niners, they don’t even have a standout corner. Neither do the Bengals & the winner of the Chiefs-Bills.

The play was dead at that point
The rule is correct
Yeah..those are bang bang calls though. Could have gone either way. Like Collinsworth noted, the ball hitting the ground is the only factor. Just a little weird.is all.

I agree. I bet this rule gets looked at in the off-season

Yes that rule makes no sense. You throw the ball to the ground and miss the Rb and the QB gets roughed it’s a first down offense.

Also not the mention every team left have at least two dominant receiving options.

Very good point. Very dangerous with no consequence.
