The Detroit Tigers continue to be upended by the bottom of an opponent's batting order.
During Tuesday's 4-2 loss at Daikin Park, the six players who were slotted into the Nos. 6-9 spots of the Houston Astros' lineup combined to score all of their runs.
It's becoming a disturbing trend for the Tigers (30-44).
Astros catcher Yainer Diaz, right fielder Cam Smith, pinch hitter Joey Loperfido and third baseman Raynel Delgado, the ninth batter, each scored for the Astros. It was all they needed as the Tigers fell to 0-13 when the bottom four batters scored at least four runs in a game this season.
During Wednesday's series finale, the Astros' seventh-place batter, Loperfido, and ninth-place hitter, Christian Vazquez, scored, fueling a 4-2 victory.
The injury-plagued Tigers turned the tables during Monday's 9-3 win, paced by No. 6 hitter Colt Keith's three home runs and six RBI. He also scored three runs. Along with next batter Spencer Torkelson's solo homer, the bottom four batters accounted for nearly half of their run total.
By taking the early-week series, the fourth-place Astros improved to 35-41, four games behind the AL West-leading Seattle Mariners, who were scheduled to host the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.
