That there are only 10 teams in the NFL that run the ball with a better YPC than us, yet we are last in rushing attempts at 226, which is the 38 carries behind the team that is #31 in rushing attempts? Makes sense to me! Granted, I know our YPC might be skewed by the lack of attempts...but come on. It seemed like Whiz was more prone to running the ball when Skelton was in, so let's hope that A) Skelton starts and B) this trend continues. I'm preaching to the choir, but I was looking at rushing stats today and got a good laugh out of that.

The Broncos are the 31st ranked rushing defense in the NFL. I'll set the over/under at 18 carries. What do you have?!? I am taking the over, just have a funny feeling this is the week Whiz pulls his head out of his ass.

The problem is that the Cards get 8 yards on their first carry then 10 yards on the second then -3 and 1 and they're in 3rd and 12 and DA has to pass which leads to a score by the other team and the Cards are now down 7-0.

Then either Beanie or TH fumbles and it's 0-14 and whiz abandons the run game.

:p

Only had a 10 point+ lead twice this season.

Have been down 14 points or more 7 times.

Cards have given up 67 points in the first quarter and 129 in the second.

Even though John Lott gets bigtime praise from everyone about his conditioning prowess... Gotta be our offense that is somehow wearing out our defense in the first half! :bang:

That's exactly what's happening. Our defense is lacking a pass rush. Other than that, they're just on the field too long, have little confidence in our offense to keep them off the field, and are playing passionless football for the most part as a result.

They still have to own it, and the defense hasn't played well, but it starts and ends with the production at the QB position. With Kurt Warner, we would've easily ran away with the division this year, even with our defensive woes, and I guarantee the defense would've at least looked marginally better with the same personnel.

The defense is stronger in the 2nd half... there's the Lott training paying off!

The question is why have the Cards given up almost twice as many points in the 2nd quarter than in any of the other 3?

I'd say the defense is wearing down, getting rested at the half, and then the opponent is so far ahead in the 4th that they call off the dogs, could be one answer.

I have seen games this season when the other team just literally gave us the ball back, not even wanting to score late in the 4th.

But the facts you have presented astonish me. Seems like we blitz more at the start of the games. And then tinker off and let the QB light us up in the second quarter.

Our defense is a trip, they usually get scored on the first drive. Then they get tuff and won't allow TDs, just FGs, but let everybody get to the red zone. After our offense does nothing (or worse), the D follows suit. Rough year fo sho.
