The New York Giants appeared on the verge of keeping one of their own, but things changed quickly once the market opened.
SNY’s Connor Hughes reports the Giants and cornerback Cor’Dale Flott had agreed to terms on a contract to keep him in New York. However, Flott ultimately backed out and instead agreed to a deal with the Tennessee Titans. The abrupt shift came as free agency negotiations ramped up across the league.
However, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports that the Giants didn't come close to the AAV Flott received with the Titans, and New York never believed they had a deal in the bag.
Flott, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of LSU, had developed into a regular contributor in the Giants’ secondary. He started 14 games in 2025 and finished with 38 tackles, 11 passes defensed, and one interception before a late-season knee injury landed him on injured reserve (IR).
Leading into free agency, the Giants were considered serious about bringing Flott back, and negotiations between the two sides had reportedly been progressing. However, the 24-year-old was also expected to draw strong interest on the open market, with teams viewing him as a young corner still ascending.
Ultimately, Tennessee’s offer proved too strong, leaving the Giants to regroup as they look to reshape their cornerback room.

Sources: Cor'Dale Flott was set to return to the #Giants. It was as done of a deal as you can get without pen-to-paper.
As last-second attempt to get himt to change his mind, the #Titans put forth their entire plan for how Robert Saleh planned to use him, and what they believed…

#Giants never thought they had a done deal with Cor'Dale Flott, source said. They never got as high as $15M AAV like #Titans did. There was progress made over last two days, but TEN is spending cap space like drunken sailors and that's hard to compete with. https://t.co/fhtk2RBM94
