SAN DIEGO — The Diamondbacks had been hoping to get right-hander Michael Soroka back from the injured list sometime right before or after the All-Star break, but that no longer appears likely as Soroka has had planned throwing sessions pushed back.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Soroka, who is on the injured list with a glute injury, threw a bullpen session last week but did not bounce back from it as hoped. He has not thrown off the mound since.

Lovullo said Soroka is scheduled to get back off the mound on Sunday, July 12, with the hopes of throwing another bullpen session four days later.

There is still hope that Soroka could move quickly from there, Lovullo said, but it is not clear if he would then need a minor league rehab assignment since it will be approaching a month since his last game action on June 19.

Meanwhile, Lovullo said right-hander Corbin Burnes is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday to be cleared to begin a throwing program. Burnes has not pitched since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year; he had been expected to return this month but suffered a teres major strain behind his right shoulder during his rehab.
