In sports, rivals can become teammates in the blink of an eye.
Last year's WNBA postseason featured a first-round matchup of the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun. The Sun defeated the Fever in two games, eliminating the young up-and-coming team without even needing a deciding game three.
Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, the 2024 and 2023 Rookies of the Year, were sent home by an older, more experienced Connecticut team. Veteran DeWanna Bonner was playing in her 82nd WNBA playoff game in game two of the series, tying the record that previously was held by Lindsay Whalen.
The Indiana Fever front office knows that they have struck gold with legitimate superstar talent leading their team. So they went out this offseason and brought in several high-level players to turn their team into a genuine contender. One of these additions was bringing in six-time All-Star Bonner, who will slot into the starting lineup as a power forward.

Now, Clark and Bonner are sharing the floor, on a mission to start a dynasty in Indianapolis. Recently, Bonner was mic'd up for a preseason game against the Brazilian national team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Clark's college home floor.
"I do give her trouble, I always throw up the W in her face because we (Connecticut Sun) got the dub," Bonner said per Samuel Kingery.
Bonner went on to compliment her new teammate, speaking on her improvement and talent.
"I am happy to be on the side of the ball with her, she's such a dynamic player," Bonner said per Samuel Kingery, "She makes everyone on her team better. You can already see the difference from our first game to this game. It's been so much better. Such a calm presence out there. So just happy to have her out there on my side this time."
