They were talking last night abouth the Cards horrible 2 minute defense. I agree with them and it's because our depth in the defensive backfield is downright bad. Take a look:

Michael Adams-he'll stick his nose in there and make a tackle but he's not very good in coverage.
Ralph Brown- he played well at the end of last year but he's been non-existent this year in fact pretty bad when he's played.
Greg Toler- it's say alot that he hasn't been able to pass Brown or Adams on the depth chart. But he's a rookie and extremely raw.
Matt Ware- you can get a guy of Ware's caliber anyhwere. He could definitely be upgraded.
Rashard Johnson- he's starting to scare me and i feel he could turn out be a Buster Davis type 3rd round pick. He just looks totally lost and overmatched when he's out there. From what i saw, there has been no improvement from his exhibition game play and that was bad as well.

The fact that we get no pass rush in 2-minute situations doesn't help any. We showed that if you give a bum like Alex Smith (or VY) enough time to sit in the pocket they can pick you apart. Our lack of talent (depth wise) in the secondary doesn't help any. I wouldn't worry about Rashad Johnson until the end of next season if he hasn't improved any. Safety isn't a position most guys can jump into and flourish at, it's a huge jump from college to the nfl.
