As the NFL draft begins to draw closer, rumors will continue to fly about where some of the best players in college football will land, including former Washington Huskies star wide receiver Denzel Boston.

Viewed as a consensus first-round pick around the league, Boston has mainly found himself in the back half of the first round, and on Tuesday, ESPN's Peter Schrager placed him in a new landing spot in his first mock draft of the year: on the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 23 overall pick. After Boston pulled in 132 catches for 1,781 yards and 20 touchdowns over his four years with the Huskies, it's a bit of a curious landing spot given Philadelphia's high-end talent at the position.

For the last few years, quarterback Jalen Hurts has had one of the best pairings of wide receivers in the NFL to throw to in A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, but throughout the offseason, Brown has been one of the league's most popular trade targets.

In a mock draft exercise with @minakimes, @MoveTheSticks had the Eagles selecting WR Denzel Boston as a replacement for AJ Brown.

Mina Kimes: “You’re taking Boston, but you’re trading AJ.”

Daniel Jeremiah: “Yeah, AJ’s a Patriot.”

"Boston is electric, and Washington coach Jedd Fisch and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman are longtime college buddies," Schrager wrote in his reasoning for the pick. "Some NFL sources I have spoken to have Boston as the second or third wideout in this class. And if the Eagles take him, A.J. Brown's future becomes all the more interesting."

Brown, who will most likely be traded after June 1 due to his contract, has been heavily linked to the New England Patriots in recent weeks, and if Roseman does opt to select Boston, that would be a telltale sign that the Eagles and former All-Pro are headed for a breakup.

That would put Boston in an ideal position to make a major impact from day one. Not only would he have a high-end running mate to complement him in Smith, but the 6-foot-4 former Husky star's versatility and reliable hands could make him a security blanket for Hurts early on in his career.
