The Denver Nuggets have signed Lonnie Walker IV.
In 2023, it felt like Lonnie Walker IV had a bright future ahead of him in the NBA after some crucial playoff performances for the Los Angeles Lakers. Things didn't quite pan out for Walker, as he found himself out of the NBA and in the EuroLeague just three seasons later.
Until now.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Denver Nuggets have agreed to sign Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year, $3.3 million deal. Last season, Walker played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague.

Two seasons ago with the Philadelphia 76ers, Walker averaged 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on 42/35/80 shooting from the field. He unfortunately only played in 20 games with the team, starting in seven of them. So it became hard to see what he was truly capable of.
His last truly complete season was when Walker was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2022-2023 NBA season. That season, Walker averaged 11.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 45/37/86 shooting from the field.
Walker's season culminated in a major Game 4 performance in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Golden State Warriors, where he dropped 15 points in the fourth quarter alone - the moment was dubbed, "The Lonnie Walker Game."
In 13 playoff games that season, Walker averaged 6.2 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.8 assists on 48/38/75 shooting while averaging roughly 14 minutes a game.
Simply put, the Denver Nuggets are going to need help at the guard position. As currently constructed, they have Tyus Jones as their backup point guard and Julian Strawther as their backup shooting guard. They have other pieces in KJ Simpson and Spencer Jones, but it's a very thin team.

With the way the Nuggets are looking, they're going to need all the bench help that they can get. It remains to be seen if Lonnie Walker IV will receive legitimate playing time, but there is a decent chance that an opportunity will come. If a guard ends up injured, one should imagine seeing Lonnie Walker IV on the court.
The Denver Nuggets aren't the same deep team they once were in previous years, and this year they look thinner than ever. Fortunately, they still have Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon, but that can only carry them so far.
