DeLand 2027 two-way lineman Taz Logan said it’s just “that dawg” in him that makes him stand out and he certainly did Sunday at the Second Annual Real McCoy Exposure Camp at Central Florida Fairgrounds.
Logan, who worked out on the defensive line Sunday, stood out among all the competitors and was awarded the overall MVP for the camp, which attracted more than 200 athletes to the event. The camp is put on by former Florida Gators players TJ McCoy, who played at South Lake, and Adam Shuler, who played at Lyman.
Logan took home two scholarship checks totaling $1,000 for his efforts, while the other position MVP winners earned scholarship checks for $250 each.

West Orange 2028 quarterback AJ Chung won his second MVP of the offseason. Tavares 2027 linebacker Ari Bentley earned MVP to even him up with his twin brother, who had earned an MVP honor at the Under Armour Camp last month.

Offensive line: Roshard Williams, 2029, Miami Carroll City
Defensive line: Taz Logan, 2027, DeLand
Defensive back: James Lattimore, 2028, East River
Running back: Bryan Neves dos Santos, 2028, East Ridge
Wide Receiver: Kyson Cleveland, 2027, Boone
Logan showed his veracity in overshadowing the other linemen. He short in stature at 6-foot, but it doesn’t hold him back and he makes up for it with his physical abilities.
“It feels great to walk around with this,” Logan said, holding his trophy. “It’s the biggest award I’ve gotten, probably.”
He said he wasn’t surprised to win the award.
“It’s just had word and dedication,” Logan said. “I think it’s the dawg in me. I jumped in every rep I could get. Height doesn’t mean anything. You just show what you can do and get it done.”
He works both ways as a lineman for DeLand coach Rick Darlington, but said he’ll likely play defensive tackle at the next level and he enjoys the defensive side of the ball.

“I like D-line better because you can punch somebody in the face, but on the O-line I feel like my footwork is better,” Logan said.
He’s definitely physical and that’s the way Logan, who also qualified for states in wrestling, likes to play, and it’s instilled in him at DeLand.
“Yeah by Coach Darlington and Zack Darlington,” Logan said.
Numerous former players also participated as coaches at the event, like Tony McCoy (Evans/Florida), Garrett Johnson (West Orange/Kentucky), Dexter Williams (West Orange/Notre Dame), Demetris Artis (Seminole/FAMU/FSU), Roman Tatum (West Orange/Delaware//Southern Illinois), Corey Vereen (West Orange/Tennessee), Deondre Francois (Olympia/IMG/FSU/Hampton), Baylin Trujillo (Oak Ridge/USF), Kelton Law (Ocoee/Albany) and several others.
