Sounds like wishful thinking from NY Media. There is ZERO in that trade that would be impactful for the Dbacks - it would make them worse.

I have thought about this more and I think the upcoming lock out just plays a major role here. There is a strong chance you are just adding a year to Marte's contract when he is already 32.

That is a real problem then
They’ve been working Lawler out in centerfield.
I think some of it will depend on whether they are able to sign a third basemen. Blaze has earned at least a shot at full-time playing time whether that’s left field third base or second.
