The New York Jets are searching for new offensive and defensive coordinators after surprisingly firing OC Tanner Engstrand. Despite their dysfunction, the 2026 NFL pre-draft process is officially in full swing. The 2026 Panini Senior Bowl held its first practice sessions on Tuesday.

A number of wide receiver prospects impressed during the National and American Team scrimmages. We've identified three early winners who should interest the Jets.

Tyren Montgomery, WR, John Carroll

John Carroll wide receiver Tyren Montgomery competes at the D-III level. He was a late addition to this year's Senior Bowl and still showed up promptly prepared. Montgomery won a number of reps against Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood, the highest-ranked corner in attendance.

Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech

Texas Tech wide receiver Reggie Virgil displayed quickness and shiftyness throughout the National Team practice. Virgil routinely got the better of corners in one-on-one reps, including highly-rated San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson. The Red Raiders standout recorded 1,521 yards and 15 touchdowns across 2024-25.

Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

If the Jets enter the market for a prototype boundary receiver with X-size, Notre Dame's Malachi Fields might be their man. Fields routinely utilizes his 6-foot-4 and 218-pound frame to out-position and out-muscle defenders at the catch point. He had a stellar first practice that showed translatable skills.
