Daviess County is ranked in the top two in Kentucky softball by MaxPreps and is 10-0-1 on the season. The Lady Panthers didn’t play during spring break, but will get back in action with two games on Friday at the Deaconess Sports Park.
Here is a look at softball stats from 9th District teams so far this season. There is also info on how 9th District teams did on their spring break trips.
DAVIESS COUNTY
Daviess County is led by Annie Newman with a .636 batting average. Newman has accounted for 21 RBIs and has hit six home runs and five doubles. Molly Hancock is hitting .621 with 12 RBIs, four doubles, two home runs and a triple.
Shelby Bennett is hitting .484 with a double and a triple. Briley Henry is hitting .464 with two home runs, four doubles and a triple.
DC’s Storey Hume has a 1.22 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched with 32 strikeouts. Sophia Cain has a 1.31 ERA in 26.2 innings pitched and 21 strikeouts.
OWENSBORO CATHOLIC
Owensboro Catholic is 7-6 overall. Catholic went 3-2 in its five games in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Muhlenberg County beat Catholic 10-9 and Mercy Academy beat Catholic 6-4 on Thursday.
Catholic dropped Paducah Tilghman 14-3 on Wednesday. Lily Logsdon hit a solo home run for Catholic. Maddie Alvey had a triple and Taylor Clark had a double. Alvey also doubled in two runs. Ava Mudd struck out six.
Catholic beat Raceland 11-8 on Tuesday. Carley Brey had a double.
Raceland had an 8-5 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Catholic took the lead back in the top of the fifth with a triple from Taylor Clark and a double from Lily Logsdon, which each scored two runs.
Catholic beat Gallatin County 16-1 on Monday in a three inning game. Taylor Clark was 3-for-3.
Carley Brey had a triple. Emma Riney also had a triple. Lily Logsdon scored two runs with a sacrifice fly.

APOLLO
Apollo has gone 3-2 at Saraland and Daphne (Ala.). Apollo is 4-6 on the season.
Apollo beat Pell City (Ala.) 4-3 and Montgomery Semmes (Ala.) 8-7 last Friday. Apollo lost to Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) 5-2 last Saturday and Saraland 3-0 on Tuesday. Apollo beat Daphne 4-0 on Wednesday.
Emersyn Bullington was 2-for-3 with an RBI against Daphne. Mollie Julian struck out eight.
Julian struck out 10 batters against Pell City and allowed three hits and three runs. Liza Page, Hannah Holder and Keelan Wettstain each had two hits for Apollo.
Julian was 3-for-4 at the plate against MGM. Page hit a sacrifice fly to score on run and Arianna Ramirez hit a 2-run single in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good.
Julian had seven strikeouts in the 3-0 loss to Saraland.
Wettstain is batting .467 with six RBIs and two doubles. Ramirez has six RBIs and two doubles (.267).
OWENSBORO
Owensboro High School has gone 0-5 on its trip to Preston Hood Athletic Complex in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Hayley Sikes was 2-for-5 with three RBIs in a 12-10 loss to Henry County in eight innings on Tuesday.
Sikes is hitting .522 for the Lady Devils with 12 RBIs, seven triples, two home runs and two doubles. Railey Scott has pitched 38 innings with 32 strikeouts and a 4.61 ERA.
