Los Angeles Dodgers veteran Miguel Rojas announced he is retiring at the end of the 2026 season. Rojas has been vocal about his desire to coach baseball after retiring.
Rojas is taking on a player development role with the Dodgers next season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who has led Los Angeles to three World Series championships sine 2020, said he thinks Rojas will eventually become an MLB manager.

Roberts added that Rojas’ game-tying home run in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series will be helpful in Rojas’ pursuit to become a manager.
“I think he’ll manage in the big leagues,” Roberts said, per the California Post. “Interestingly enough, I think that moment that he had will actually help not just the hiring process, I think it’ll more importantly help the day-to-day role as a manager. You performed in a big moment and you can relate to coming off the bench and being there and being a champion. I think the players respect that.”
“For Miggy, obviously, the track record of a player, the knowledge of the game, the love of the game, and then now you put the cherry on top with a huge moment in the World Series, I think it rounds out his resume,” Roberts added.
Rojas Could Eventually Manage the Dodgers
Rojas has only played for two franchises during his career: the Dodgers and Miami Marlins.
It is possible he could become the manager for one of his former teams. The Marlins recently hired Clayton McCullough, who was the first base coach for the Dodgers for four years, in November 2024. Meanwhile, Los Angeles signed Roberts to a four-year contract extension in March 2025.
The possibilities of when and where Rojas will become a manager are endless.
“I don’t really know if an opportunity is going to present itself two years from now, or if it’s going to be in 15 years managing the Dodgers,” Roberts said, per the California Post. “You never know.”
For now, Rojas will keep his attention on enjoying the final season of his playing career.
