No. 10 Texas A&M (39-14, 18-11 SEC) ended the regular season with its sixth series win in SEC play after winning two of three games vs. Mississippi State, finishing third in the conference, and earning a double-bye in the SEC Tournament. However, after Auburn shut out the Aggies last Friday, Texas A&M's 4-6 record in the last ten games resulted in coach Michael Earley's team dropping out of the national seed discussion.

During Monday's NCAA Tournament selection announcement, Texas A&M received the 12-seed, much lower than many expected, and will host Lamar, Texas State, and USC in the College Station Regional, officially starting on Friday afternoon. Moments after the Aggies' seed was announced, Michael Earley stated that freshman third baseman Nico Partida will be available after missing the last two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Sophomore pitcher Aiden Sims, who has served as the Aggies' ace this season, is on track to return but is still a game-time decision and has been throwing the ball at practice. Texas A&M needs to be at full health to have any chance of getting out of the Regional, and will likely face 5-seed North Carolina in the Super Regional Round if the Aggies get the job done.

For those making plans, Texas A&M will start the Regional Round against Lamar on Friday, May 29, at 3:00 p.m., and the game will air on the SEC Network. If the Aggies defeat Lamar, they will face the winner of Texas State vs. USC. After losing to the Bobcats earlier this year in non-conference play, the Trojans, who have struggled on the mound, are likely the more favorable matchup.
