The Detroit Lions still need to pay one of their best players before the 2026 season. Jahmyr Gibbs has not been practicing at training camp while his camp negotiates an extension with the Lions. That process could accelerate now that one other elite running back just got a bag.
Lions head coach Dan Campbellwas asked for his instant reaction to Bijan Robinson’s massive extension on Tuesday morning.
“I mean, it’s certainly not gonna hurt,” Campbell told reporters on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. “It’s not gonna hurt, but we’ll see. Look, I’m anxious to get Gibbs back out there. Every day that goes by, that’s another day that you feel like you missed with him and getting him out there with the guys and him doing his part. But there again man it gets done when it gets done.”

Robinson signed a three-year deal worth up to $75 million per season. He is now the highest-paid running back in NFL history, but Gibbs may look to jump him very soon.
