Dabo Swinney press conference, live updates for Clemson football coach

CLEMSON — Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney will hold a press conference on July 14 (12:30 p.m. ET) as the Tigers are preparing for the 2026 season.

It has been a whirlwind offseason for Swinney after Clemson finished with a 7-6 record in 2025. It was the second-worst season in his full 17 seasons as the Tigers missed the ACC championship and College Football Playoff.

Swinney wasn't fired after the disappointing season, even receiving an endorsement from athletic director Graham Neff after the regular season.

Swinney made changes to his staff, firing offensive coordinator Garrett Riley after three seasons. Swinney replaced him with Chad Morris, who was the team's offensive coordinator from 2011-14. Clemson also added 12 transfers, a single-season program record to improve the team's roster.

Clemson opens the season against LSU on Sept. 5 (7:30 p.m., ABC) at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It will be Lane Kiffin's debut as LSU coach.

Dabo Swinney contract, salary​

Swinney signed his 10-year, $115 million deal with Clemson in September 2022, and it runs through 2031.

He made $11.5 million in the 2025 college football season, the highest in the ACC and the fourth-highest in the sport. Georgia's Kirby Smart ($13.3 million), Ohio State's Ryan Day ($12.6 million) and Southern Cal's Lincoln Riley ($11.5 million) were the only coaches to make more.

Dabo Swinney buyout at Clemson​

If Clemson were to fire Swinney without cause, the school would owe him $57 million in 2026. It is a drop from $60 million last season.

Swinney's buyout amount will remain at $57 million for the duration of his current contract.
