The Kansas City Chiefs have an injury concern with wide receiver Cyrus Allen after he came down with an issue during training camp practice on Saturday.
According to ESPN’s Nate Taylor, Allen collided with a teammate during the session and needed help getting off the field before he ultimately left in a cart.
As of now, it appears he’s dealing with a left knee injury, Taylor added.
“Cyrus Allen collided with Kaiir Elam as a gunner on a special teams punt rep. Allen stayed down with his helmet buried in the turf & then needed help to get off the field,” he wrote. “Allen left the field in the front of the cart with what appeared to be a left knee injury.”
According to Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star, Allen was “shaking his head and covering his face” as he was taken away on the cart.
A video shared by McDowell showed that Allen was clearly very hobbled while trying to make it off the field with the help of two Chiefs employees.
He was able to put some weight on his leg, but not much.
We can only hope Allen is not seriously injured, as the fifth-round pick was making a lot of noise over the first week of training camp.
On top of making some highlight catches, it was quite clear Allen had gained the trust of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, which put him in line to have a sizeable role in Year 1.
“Early in camp here with Rashee Rice not working team, Cyrus Allen has undoubtedly been Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target. It feels like he’s looking Allen’s way every time he’s out there,” Pete Sweeney of The Kansas City Star said.
“Cyrus had a good day today with him,” head coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday. “I think Pat’s got some trust there. We’ve got a long way to go, but we’ve just got to keep growing.”

The Chiefs have no shortage of question marks at wide receiver.
Sweeney laid out one of them with the note on Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy is coming off a disappointing season.
Jalen Royals has struggled during the first week of training camp and Tyquan Thornton was nowhere to be found after a strong start to 2025.
The path is clear for Allen to be a factor in the Chiefs’ wide receivers room, but first he has to avoid suffering a serious injury.
