OMAHA — The Iowa State soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 1-0 victory over the University of Nebraska Omaha at the Caniglia Field.
The Cyclones’ only goal was scored by San Francisco transfer Danica Lunceford, a junior. The goal came at the 23rd minute mark.

The goalkeeper was redshirt freshman Eme McClenahan, a Utah transfer, who recorded one save in the win.
This was the fourth meeting between the two teams. Iowa State won 4-0 on Aug. 17, 2012, 1-0 on Sept. 8, 2019 and 4-1 on Sept. 15, 2022.
The next home game for Iowa State will be Sunday, Aug. 16. They will face the Kansas City for Senior Day at 6 p.m. The Cyclones are 1-1 against the Roos, as they won 2-0 at home on Sept. 3, 2017 and lost 3-1 at Durwood Soccer Stadium on Sept. 14, 2018.
