PERROS-GUIREC, France (Reuters) - Chris Froome took a high-speed tumble on the opening day of the Tour de France, but the four-times champion was on his bike for Sunday’s second stage determined to soldier on as he returns to the race after a two-year absence following a horror crash in 2019. Froome was back on his bike after being attended to by a race doctor and his Israel-Start Up Nation team sports manager Rik Verbrugghe, before crossing the line 14:37 down on stage winner Julian Alaphilippe of France. The 36-year-old Froome, who won his Tour title in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017, spent hours at a local hospital for check that showed he had no broken bones.
