The Chicago Cubs completed a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday by earning a competitive 7-6 win. It was an exciting game as Shohei Ohtani and Pete Crow-Armstrong fueled what has become an intriguing MVP race in the National League by combining for four home runs in the contest, with both stars hitting two long balls. Of course, winning the MVP over a two-way player is going to be a challenge. While Crow-Armstrong would like to accomplish the feat, it is not his biggest priority.

“I would be crazy to say that I don’t want to win an MVP but if we’re talking about having priorities straight, I think mine are pretty straight,” Crow-Armstrong said, via Jesse Rogers of ESPN. “It’s not on the forefront of my mind. It’s fun to joke about it and it’s fun to acknowledge. And I think it’s absolutely okay to pay attention to, but again, it’s not like following me up to the plate.

“And yeah, I think if you guys want to talk about all this back and forth, I really should go get in the lab and start pitching. I really should.”

While PCA may not pitch, there aren’t many players who can play defense like he does in the outfield. He won his first Gold Glove last year and he certainly could earn another this season. Crow-Armstrong’s 7.0 WAR is also the best in the league, according to Baseball Reference.

Both players have hit the ball well and Ohtani’s pitching will help his case, but PCA is a legitimate MVP candidate — which is a feat in itself given Ohtani’s two-way prowess.
