Crystal Palace have reached agreement over personal terms with Angers striker Sidiki Cherif, according to RMC Sports journalist Fabrice Hawkins. Palace are ready to bolster their striking options at the Selhurst Park club during the ongoing winter transfer window in a bid to convince manager Oliver Glasner to sign a new deal. The Eagles and the French club remain in talks as they look to reach an agreement over a fee. Palace’s executives are confident of getting the deal over the line, and Cherif could become the most expensive player in the history of Angers.

The 19-year-old has four goals in 17 Ligue 1 games this term after ending last season with no goals in seven league appearances. He has done enough to convince Palace of his quality and huge potential so far this term, and he could be on his way to London in the coming days. The Eagles are preparing for a future without Jean-Philippe Mateta, with the 28-year-old striker out of contract next year. Talks over a new contract have stalled, and the Frenchman could be on his way out in the summer, and Palace have identified Cherif as a potential long-term replacement.
Paris FC had appeared to be leading the race to sign the Angers star, submitting a €25 million offer, but the Eagles have pipped them to his services.
