The Cowboys didn't make as big a splash in the first wave of free agency as many fans had hoped for, but teams need to fill out the bottom of their roster with depth players, too.
Dallas has reportedly agreed to a deal with offensive lineman Matt Hennessy, per a report Thursday night from ESPN's Todd Archer, who cited a source in a post made to X.
Hennessy is a 28-year-old former third-round draft pick out of Temple. He appeared in 45 games for the Falcons over the better part of five seasons (though he missed all of 2023 with a knee injury) in Atlanta and made 22 starts, including every game of the 2021 season.
He joined the 49ers late in 2024 and then stayed with the team through 2025, playing in all 17 contests and making another two starts.
Hennessy has seen most of his action at center but can also play guard. That positional versatility suggests he may be the replacement for Brock Hoffman, who also did both for the Cowboys and is currently on the open market after not receiving a tender offer from the club as a restricted free agent.
A highly-rated interior-lineman prospect coming out of college, the 6-foot-3-inch, 315-pound Hennessy was selected one round before the Cowboys took center Tyler Biadasz in 2020's draft.

The Cowboys have agreed to a deal with OL Matt Hennessy, according to a source. He has 24 starts in 64 career games with Atlanta and San Francisco. Would be in line to replace Brock Hoffman, who was not tendered as an RFA.
