Cowboys, Eagles named top landing spots for 23-sack Browns superstar edge rusher originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Things just got a little more real for the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2026-27 season.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the idea of the Browns trading their star edge rusher, Myles Garrett, is starting to pick up some steam.
“I wouldn’t rule anything out,” Breer stated Wednesday. “And I’ve said this before, I think it makes sense for Cleveland to move Garrett now. He’s still a great player, and he’d bring a massive haul. But his timeline doesn’t really align with those of the 2025 and 2026 draft classes that Cleveland hopes will lay the foundation for the franchise moving forward.”
Two days before Breer’s report, he appeared on the 92.3 The Fan radio show to discuss Brown’s future with the Browns, and named the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys as potential suitors for the 23-sack superstar.
"I think the Eagles are somebody you always pay attention to (as a potential trade suitor for Myles Garrett)," Breer said. "Dallas... there would be an appeal there. If you don't do it now, well, you risk in a year or two when maybe your team is really ready to win, getting a lot less for him."
Of course, the Eagles’ main priority in early June is working through the logistics of a trade that would allow the franchise to wash their hands of their disgruntled wide receiver A.J. Brown. After that, though, Philadelphia could turn its attention to its less-than-stellar pass-rushing attack and inquire about Garrett.
The Cowboys could do the same, as acquiring Garrett would give the organization a once-in-a-lifetime defender who would give Dallas the best possible chance of being formidable on that side of the ball moving forward.
The former No. 1 overall pick recorded 412 tackles, 125.5 sacks, and 23 force fumbles through nine seasons, indicating there’s no question he’s on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
It’ll be interesting to see if Cleveland receives a trade offer for Garrett that they can’t refuse in the foreseeable future.
