The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks swept the regular-season series with their NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals a year ago. The Seahawks will love their chances to repeat that success in 2026. The Cardinals are in full-blown rebuild mode under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur.
The 2026 schedule was recently released and the Seahawks will meet the Cardinals for the first time in Week 2. The Cardinals have been enduring some difficulties at OTAs this week. Most notably, starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett is absent from voluntary workouts as he's entangled in a contract-related dispute with the team.
The aging Brissett is entering the final season on his contract and is demanding a new agreement as a reward for being the projected starter. Brissett possesses an underpaid $9.2 million scheduled cap charge. Brissett's absence is leading to speculation that Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck could become the Week 1 starter.
ESPN's Josh Weinfuss recently claimed there's "potential" for Beck to be the Week 1 starter, though he ultimately calls it "unlikely."You'd have to assume the Cardinals and Brissett will eventually reach an agreement. Beck, the 65th pick in the 2026 NFL draft, will probably get an opportunity to play for the rebuilding Cardinals eventually, but it may not be in Week 2 versus the Seahawks.
