The latest buzz coming out of the NFL is that the Seattle Seahawks aren't close to signing wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to an extension. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that yesterday and an $18 million per year figure has been floated out there. With extensions for Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon coming down the pipeline, the Seahawks probably can't afford to re-sign Shaheed.
If the Seahawks let Shaheed walk in free agency, general manager John Schneider may consider drafting his replacement at No. 32 overall. Most mock drafts have the Seahawks drafting an offensive linemen or cornerback with the 32nd selection. Wide receiver could emerge as another possibility if Shaheed signs elsewhere.
The most obvious target as a like-for-like replacement for Shaheed would be Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion. He's a dynamic threat who could replace Shaheed's effectiveness on special teams. There's no guarantee Concepcion would be available, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills being some of the WR-needy teams picking ahead of the Seahawks in the first round.
The Seahawks may also have an in-house replacement in Tory Horton. Schneider seems high on Horton and new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury will be tasked with getting more out of the sophomore wideout in 2026. The Seahawks will have options, but replacing Shaheed would be no easy task.
