Could the Maxx Crosby trade fall out between the Raiders and Ravens impact Indianapolis Colts’ free agent defensive end Kwity Paye?
The Ravens are reportedly backing out of their trade agreement with the Raiders due to Crosby failing his physical.
Although over the weekend, the Raiders and Ravens agreed upon the trade, which would included two first-round picks going from Baltimore to Las Vegas in exchange for Crosby, the deal does not become official until the new league year begins on March 11th at 4:00 PM ET.
The Ravens are exercising their ability to rescind the offer due to Crosby’s physical.
So, how does this impact Paye?
Paye, a free agent, agreed to a three-year, $48 million deal with the Raiders. But with Crosby no longer going to the Ravens, his $30 million salary that the Raiders thought would be off the books is still there. That severely impacts their spending power and potentially their ability to sign Paye and many of the other free agents they agreed to terms with.
Now, the Raiders could still find another trade partner, but until then, a lot is up in the air, and ripple effects of this news could impact a number of free agents and a lot of teams, depending on how the situation unfolds from here.
