MLB and Baltimore Orioles fans are learning how much Adley Rutschman was beloved in the clubhouse among his teammates, most notably Gunnar Henderson.
Henderson tried again on Friday to articulate his thoughts about Rutschman. He said, “One of my best friends. My first Orioles friend and my first roommate. … It was not a happy day for me and my wife. She really loves Rutsch as well.”
Henderson’s unhappiness with Rutschman’s trade is the backdrop of unsettling information coming from Buster Olney, hinting that Henderson may also be on his way out of Baltimore.

Olney is well connected in MLB channels. However, it is unclear if he has heard this from Henderson’s agent Scott Boras, or if he is using his gut instinct with this report.
Henderson is set to be a free agent in 2028. Could he want out earlier amid a nearly imminent 2027 lockout?

Time will tell if the Rutschman trade was beneficial for the Orioles.
At some point, the front office has to decide if it plans to sign the young talent it has prided itself on drafting.
Henderson was the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2019 MLB draft. That was the same draft that the Orioles selcted Rutschman first overall.

Colton Cowser was the first overall pick in the 2021 MLB draft. Jackson Holliday was the first overall pick in the 2022 draft.
As is always the case, winning cures all. If the Orioles want to keep the rest of its star draft picks together, winning would be the best way to go about it.
