Could Denver Nuggetssuperstar center Nikola Jokić enter NBA free agency in summer 2027?!
Well, we're not there yet, but NBA insider Marc Stein shared a juicy, uh, nugget on Saturday that the Joker might hold off on extending his current contract with Denver over the summer.
Again, nothing is set in stone, and Jokić could easily change his mind and sign a long-term deal to stay in Denver for the rest of his prime. However, exiting the Nuggets, who have struggled to capture the same consistency from their 2023 NBA title run since winning the championship, feels like it's at least somewhat possible right now.
Obviously, a lot can and probably will happen before Jokić's contract hits the player option in 2027. Nuggets fans don't need to fret too, too much right now, but if he leaves the summer without a new deal, it's at least a little suspicious.
We'll see what happens with Jokić and his contract; it's bound to be a hot topic in Denver this summer and maybe beyond. If we get to next summer and he actually hits free agency, the rest of the NBA will be on watch.
