After winning a combined 21 games during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the Ada High School boys soccer team stumbled a bit last spring, finishing 5-10.
Thanks to an experienced senior class and an influx of talented newcomers, Ada head coach Larry Morgan fully expects the Cougars to turn things around in 2026.
“With a very strong senior class and a plethora of new freshmen talent, I expect us to bounce back and make a strong push for the playoffs again this season,” Morgan told The Ada News. “Last year was a down year by our standards.”
Versatile senior Steven Stout is one of the unquestioned leaders for the Cougars, who also return a seasoned presence in the goal with Ben Rhynes.
“Steven is probably our most talented technical player, while goalkeeper Ben Rhynes is the best keeper in our district,” Morgan said. “This will be his fourth consecutive season in the net for the Cougars, and his experience is invaluable. “
Sophomore Edwin Vasquez emerged as one of the top freshmen in Class 4A last season, scoring 15 goals during his first varsity campaign.
“Edwin looks to build off his 15 goals from last season,” Morgan said. “Seniors Bryce Wood and Erik King will anchor the defense alongside junior Gabriel Velasquez.”
Junior Tylor Byrd and freshman David Stout — a standout kicker for the football team last fall — will man the midfield alongside freshman wingbacks Dante Maya and David Lerma.
Forwards expected to see plenty of action include senior Steven Stout, junior Cesar Barrera and sophomore Edwin Vasquez.
The Cougars host Atoka at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to open the home portion of their 2026 schedule.
Ada will be competing in District 4A-1 against Ardmore, Bethany, Cache, Chickasha, Community Christian, Harrah and Madill.
