Pulling from the most common social media defense playbook, Daniel Cormier says a controversial Sunday tweet was the result of him being hacked.

Cormier, a former UFC two-division champion and longtime broadcast analyst, posted that Donald Trump's son, Eric, asked him for insider betting information on the UFC Freedom 250 fights. Cormier later denied the post was real, as did Eric Trump.

Cormier, who called the fights at the White House with Jon Anik and Joe Rogan, posted, then deleted, what appeared to be direct messages with Trump in which Trump asked about fights that might be "rigged." According to the screenshots that were posted on Cormier's account, Trump wanted information on potential injuries, particularly Diego Lopes.

Cormier's quickly-deleted post was screenshotted by multiple accounts on X, and didn't take long to gain viral traction. The original post had a caption that said he would not "stay silent" and will "not tolerate this type of insider behavior and shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event."

Along with his online denial, Cormier responded while getting into a waiting vehicle after the event and claimed he had been hacked.

"I got hacked or something," Cormier said. "Who believes stuff like that? That's crazy?"

UFC officials have not responded to the tweet-and-delete.
