Someone just forked out a whole lot of cash to purchase Cooper Flagg's rookie jersey.
The jersey worn by the Dallas Mavericks star during his very first NBA game sold privately for a staggering $1 million, Sotheby's confirmed to The Sporting News in a press release on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Flagg wore the jersey during the first half of his highly anticipated NBA debut for the Mavs against the San Antonio Spurs on October 22, 2025.
It's officially the highest recorded price for any of Flagg's collectibles to date and also broke a new record for the highest price ever achieved for a jersey sold through NBA Auctions.
There are several moments that made Flagg's debut jersey worth it.
For starters, he likes to break records.
After being selected first overall in the 2025 draft following an impressive run at Duke, the NBA rookie has continued to go viral for his poise on and off the court. Since being drafted, Flagg's become the youngest player in the league to score 40 points in a single game, has recorded double-digit assists, and even broke an NBA record for points by a teenager after putting up 49 in a game.

More rookie jerseys heading to Sotheby's 'NBA Rookie Debut Auction'
"The $1 million result for Cooper Flagg’s rookie debut jersey is a powerful testament to the significance collectors place on true ‘first moments’ in sport," Brahm Wachter, Sotheby's head of modern collectibles said in a statement.
"This jersey captures the very beginning of a special career, one carrying huge expectations and excitement. As the Official Game Worn Source of the NBA, we’re thrilled to keep that energy going with our upcoming Rookie Debut Auction, giving collectors the chance to own the very first pieces of the league’s next big stars," he continued.
Sotheby's has a partnership in place with the league and plans to launch its "NBA Rookie Debut Auction" next month from March 17 through the 23.
The sale will spotlight several other first game jerseys from other rookies across the league, including those worn by V.J. Edgecombe, Kon Knueppel, Derik Queen, and Dylan Harper.
