Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is back from his trip to China, so he went on stream on Sunday night to discuss what's been happening in North America. He watched clips from the 2026 NBA Finals, played highlights from the ongoing World Cup, and even reflected on his time in the Far East. However, he did not address the 6-foot-11 elephant in the room.

NBA social media is abuzz with trade rumors, as several sources have reported that the Celtics may deal Brown, their five-time All-Star, in exchange for the aforementioned elephant, better known as Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Brown has likely seen these stories online, and it even sounded as if he was referring to the uncertainty of his future while livestreaming.

Jaylen Brown gave the Knicks props for winning it all and then said he’s motivated for next year:

“Now we back to work…A lot of people think they’ve seen the best version of me. You stand corrected.”

“You have not seen the best version of Jaylen Brown.”

"I look forward to the next season," Brown said on Twitch after congratulating the New York Knicks for winning the 2026 NBA title. "We'll see where the chips fall, but I'm excited about that."

That last line caught some people's attention. Does Brown not know where he'll be playing next season? Is that why he didn't reference the Celtics during his stream?

Possibly, but going back about 30 second earlier in the livestream reveals that the former NBA Finals MVP might've just been talking about the unpredictability of the NBA. Brown mentioned that the Association has had eight different champions — including the Celtics in 2024 — in the last eight years and how second-apron restrictions impact the way the "ball has been bouncing in terms of each year."

He continued by saying "the ball just bounced in the right direction" for the Knicks this season and that they deserved to win, but capturing a championship takes skill as well as a fair amount of luck.

With this in mind, perhaps Brown meant the 2026-27 season will hold that same randomness he was referring to before and that he'll try to get better no matter what luck the Celtics have.

It's difficult to be certain with anything related to the Brown-Antetokounmpo rumors, as there seems to be a new development circulating every day, regardless of its veracity.

The 2026 NBA Draft is in less than two weeks, which could mean this saga is wrapped up before then so that all parties involved can focus on their picks or look forward to October. If not, expect Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens to face multiple questions at some point this summer surrounding the fates of the longest-tenured Celtic and the Greek Freak.
