Notre Dame-West Haven's James Mascari (11) and Robert McCarthy (24) battle Simsbury's Reid Anastasio (7) during the CIAC Div. I boys ice hockey semifinals at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. (Dave Stewart/Hearst Connecticut Media)
We're just past the halfway point of the decade, so we've put together a team of the top Connecticut high school boys ice hockey players from the CIAC for the years 2021-2025.
The team is similar to our yearly GametimeCT All-State teams with 12 players chosen. All the players were named to the GametimeCT All-State first teams at least once, with a few earning the honor multiple times.
Narrowing the field down to a dozen certainly was not easy, and leaned heavily to forwards, who have dominated our MVP selections during that span.
Here's who we chose:
Reid Anastasio
Simsbury, Forward (2025)
Finished career with 123 points on 55 goals and 58 assists. That included a team-high 46 points on 22 goals and 24 assists as a senior. Led the Trojans to three straight CCC North championships and appearances in the CIAC Division I semifinals in 2024 and 2025. Named to the GametimeCT All-State first team as a senior. Is now a freshman playing on the University of Alabama club team in the ACHA.
Dylan Bankowski

Named the SCC Division I Player of the Year and received GametimeCT All-State First Team honors as a senior. Is now a freshman on the St. Anselm lacrosse team.
Doster Crowell
New Canaan, Forward (2024)
Collected 139 career points with 80 goals and 59 assists. Had 29 goals and 25 assists for 54 points during his senior season when the Rams won the FCIAC championship and reached the CIAC Division I final. Named to the GametimeCT first team twice and was a two-time coaches' Division I MVP. Is now a sophomore on the Michigan men's lacrosse team.
Layne Jackson
Notre Dame-West Haven, Goalie (2024)
