Great player but his name conjured up Ronald McDonald for some reason.

@CardLogic

I'm not sure what happened to the link above. It doesn't seem to work once pasted.

Try looking up NFL 100 all time team in search engine.

On a related note, here are the ASU players enshrined in the NFL hall of Fame:

https://www.profootballhof.com/heroes-of-the-game/colleges/ We have the same number of inductees as Oklahoma, Nebraska, and LSU, not too shabby

A few other ASU alum that have had solid NFL careers, though I am sure this isn't a complete list:

Eric Allen

Darren Woodson

John Jefferson

Terrel Suggs

Todd Heap

Pat Tillman

Jake Plummer

Danny White

Adam Archuleta

Mike Richardson

Add Mark Gastineau to the list of decent NFL players, even though he only played one season with ASU.

Others:

David Fulcher - he was a monster
Bob Breunig
Gerald Riggs had a decent career
Louis Wright had a nice run as DB
Jim Jeffcoat
Al Harris
Trace Armstrong

Woodson and Suggs are both likely (in Suggs case, very likely) future inductees.

Is this list restricted to football? You have some obvious HOFers from other sports. Reggie comes to mind, so does Jim Palmer.

Arizona State great Bobby Winkles dies at age 90. He won three baseball college world series titles with the Sun Devils.

Bobby Winkles, who as Arizona State’s first varsity baseball coach laid the foundation for one of the nation’s most prominent college programs, died Friday.

Winkles’ teams won three College World Series titles in his 13 seasons, and he was inducted as a charter member of the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.

Winkles gave up minor league baseball to start his coaching career at ASU in the 1958-59 school year, just as ASU was becoming a university. He took the Sun Devils to Omaha, Neb., for their first College World Series in 1964 and won the national championship in 1965, ’67 and ’69. Winkles, who also managed two major-league teams, was 90. (born March 11, 1930)

Bobby thanks for the memories. You will be greatly missed.

Three former Arizona State players on 2021 College Football Hall of Fame ballot as well former coach Darryl Rogers.

Doug Haller @DougHaller

Former ASU players David Fulcher, Al Harris and Luis Zendejas, as well as former coach Darryl Rogers, are on the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame ballot.

This is Zendejas' first time on the ballot. The third for Fulcher and the ninth for Harris.

ASU has 12 in the HOF.

Don’t you have to earn a degree for it to be an alma mater? Did James graduate later?

Does it matter? James Harden played for ASU and has remained connected to the school.

I’m just discussing the use of alma mater term and wondering if he actually got his degree from ASU at some point. And no it doesn’t really matter.

No, technically just attending a school makes it your "alma mater."
