Welcome to the Morning Commute

Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football

With the conclusion of the College World Series last night, the 2025-2026 college sports calendar has come to an end. Hey, that means we can start the countdown to football season!

Preseason honors and awards will start to come through multiple media outlets as we inch toward August. On Monday, Phil Steele released his preseason All-SEC teams, and Mizzou was well represented with four Tigers on his list. Ahmad Hardy and Cayden Green landed on the first team. Meanwhile, Brett Norflett received a third-team selection and Dominick Guidice is on the fourth team.

On the recruiting front, it was a huge day for 2027 in-state commitments with the additions of offensive lineman Kyler Kuhn and running back Kingston Miles.

Mizzou’s 2027 class currently ranks 25th on 247Sports and 26th via On3/Rivals.

So where does that leave the Tigers in terms of the rankings? Still with some catching up to do. The Tigers rank 31st in the country by both On3 and 247’s class calculators, albeit with a slightly smaller class size at 16. There’s still plenty of time before National Signing Day, and the Tigers are playing for some big fish.

I’d count Kyler Kuhn and Kingston Miles as some “big fish.”

Missouri values Davis’ ability to shoot out of pick-and-rolls. Even on modest volume last season, he proved adept at punishing defenders who ducked under screens. That skill is the one the Tigers need to translate.

Really excited to see what Kennard Davis can bring to Dennis Gates’ system.

#Mizzou football landed another in-state commitment in its 2027 class. Four-star interior offensive lineman Kyler Kuhn chose the Tigers over several other Power Four programs.

Kuhn is ranked as the 231st-best player in the nation by 247Sports, the 14th-best interior offensive lineman and fifth-best player in Missouri. He’s the sixth offensive lineman commit, joining Lual Aleu, Jack Marquard, Luke Injaychock, Tristan Dare and Jaylen Hill. Kuhn is also the fifth in-state commit for head coach Eliah Drinkwitz in this cycle.

Kuhn is a big-time get to beef up the offensive line. The in-state recruiting momentum is on fire right now.

In the second blue chip recruiting victory of the day, four-star running back Kingston Miles announced on Monday that he is flipping his commitment from Auburn to Mizzou. He is the 18th addition to the 2027 recruiting class.

The St. Mary’s-to-Mizzou running back pipeline continues!
