Last July, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and his foundation hosted the inaugural Community Day in San Bernardino, California, where he grew up. Now, Daniels is hosting the second annual Community Day in his hometown on July 18, starting at 9 a.m. PST.
The Community Day event provides backpacks and school supplies to children in the community, which he discussed with the local news in San Bernardino.
After briefly discussing Daniels' history in the community, the news anchors ask him to tell them about Community Day.
"Yeah, second annual, it's gonna be bigger and better this year," Daniels replies. "Last year was kind of trial-and-error stuff, but this year, everybody in the area [can] come out and support, go out, give back, and have fun. We'll be raffling off some things, iPads and things of that nature, and just go out there and show love to the community. Bring everybody together and show everybody around the world what San Bernardino does and what it's meant to me. Just go out there and have fun, interact with the kids for a couple of hours, and make sure everybody is out there getting ready for school and getting prepared for the school year."
Daniels also expressed his excitement for the upcoming season when he was asked how he felt about it.
"I'm actually, I'm very excited," He says. "New year, new opportunities. The team that we have, I'm super excited for the team that we have, and how we looked in offseason programs. It should be a fun year. You know, every year is a new year, but obviously, I love this game. I have a very strong passion for it, and I'm ready to get back out there and try to win some football games, score some touchdowns on Sundays."
It's no secret that Daniels has a big year ahead of him. How this season goes will likely dictate how the rest of his career plays out, so his goal is to play at the highest level he can.
